Kim’s collection contains six short stories and novellas, including Marine Literature prize-winning work “Adios Atun.” Kim’s writing captures the lives of modern people who work hard to survive. “Adios Atun” deals with the anxiety of urban life, covering topics in our everyday life, such as insurance, urban reconstruction, business management, and deep sea tuna fishing.

“Fog in Nakhodka” tells the story of a man who changes his job several times—from convenience store casher to day laborer on construction sites—before settling at a seafood company in Russia. With great skill, the tale also weaves together the heartbreaking stories of one Russo-Korean who was a comfort woman during the Japanese Imperial period and another Russo-Korean who is suffering an identity crisis.
